Surviving the Apple whites, By Stephanie S. Tolan is about a young rebel boy named Jake. Jake Semple. Jake arrives at the Apple whites house because his parents were trying to sell marijuana to sheriff deputy in there basement. Also Jake had to make a choice. He had to decide where he wanted to go, to Juvenile Hall or to the home of the apple whites. Jake chooses to go there and day after day he regretted choosing that home and he said that going to Juvenile Hall was getting tempting.

While living with the apple whites E.d's brother Destiny always bothered/annoyed Jake. Jake got used to Destiny and Winston (the dog) and he began to change. Jake became nicer through out the book. Jake also liked looking at Cordelia do her ballet. Cordelia ignored Jake and it seemed like she was always too busy to turn around or say hi. Jake was different than the apple whites. Time went by and he learned how to get along with that strange, strict family. At the end you could tell that Jake had had changed. That was because he said he was tired of doing the same old spikes every day and he also told Destiny that he was planning to dye his hair brown (Back to the same color of hair he was born with.) Also Jake even said that he had felt a sudden change in him.

Jake Semple is a rebel boy with problems, his parents went to jail because they tried to sale mariguana in their basement to a sherif deputy. His parents either have to let him (Jake) go to Juvenal hall or to Grandpa Zediadahs house. The parents send him to Jakes grandpas house. There he meets a family called The Apple whites. When Jake gets there nobody is really happy that Jake is there. E.d has to teach him school info. and how to behave. And the only one who is happy for him being there is Lucille. Destiny E.d's little brother Bothers Jake and asks him alot of questions. Jake seems to like Cordelia a girl that he met when she was wearing a leotard for ballet.Some one who is always in his room is Hal and Jake has not met him yet. Jakes grandfather isn't so happy to see him. In the beggining of chapter eight a man comes and interviews E.d but really he interviews E.d's family the Apple whites. E.d feels as if she were invisible the whole time since she was ignored during her interview. That's all I have read so far but I am pretty sure there will be lots more to talk about.
